Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. This is the message Jesus preached from the start of his ministry. Every human is guilty of breaking the law of God. This is called sin and we are in need of the only person who can forgive and save, which is God through Jesus Christ, by the power of The Holy spirit.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" -Romans 3:23
On a deep subconscious level we do not want to know this, we do not want to understand who God is and what that means for us. Because knowing means we are responsible for the choice we make and how we respond to this knowledge.
"They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God." -Romans 1:19-20 NLT
Many pick and choose what they want to believe about God because if they were to accept the full picture they would have to change. That is what it means to Repent. Repentance is the genuine recognition of wrong doing and a commitment to change. It is the first step to being made right with God.
This first step requires a healthy fear of God. And that is why we must Fear The Ghost. The Holy Ghost.
It is The Spirit of God that changes man. The third person of The Trinity. Upon hearing the news of what Jesus did for you by dying on the cross, resurrected from the dead and by repenting and believing with faith. He puts a mirror in front of your soul so that you may see, you are dead without a relationship with The Risen Lord Jesus. You will come alive with him through faith in him, Spiritually here and now and one day in Heaven.
Fear God. Fear The Holy Ghost. But also know that once he has saved you, he is your closest friend, who loves you more than you can ever possibly imagine.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" -Proverbs 9:10
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." -Romans 6:23
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8
"If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." -Romans 10:9
